Representative cases:
• A home owner had entered into
agreement with “investors” for a short-term loan to
“rescue” her from an imminent mortgage foreclosure sale.
When she was unable to repay the loan, the “investors”
forced her to sign a lease and then brought an eviction case. Our
firm investigated the surrounding facts and then filed a detailed
factual defense. This led to a settlement which saved our client’s
equity. Our client was never interviewed or deposed.
• An environmental organization and members won a summary
judgment ordering a federal agency to produce and copy thousands
of documents according to a fixed schedule. The federal district
court rejected the defense that the huge backlog of pending Freedom
of Information requests to the agency warranted the placing of their
request behind the earlier requests. This would have delayed the
production for many years. Our clients were never interviewed or
deposed.
• A fly-by-night company promised our client to double his
money for buying homes going into foreclosure. When it was time
to pay, the company could not be found, and our client was sued
in foreclosure by the lenders. We researched the law, investigated
the facts, and filed a detailed defense. The lenders then settled
and dismissed the lawsuits. Our client was never interviewed or
deposed.
